Zendaya’s new movie, The Greatest Showman, has the actress flying high as a trapeze artist, rocking fierce pink hair, and—oh yeah—smooching Zac Efron. And if you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s like to lock lips with the former High School Musical heartthrob, Zendaya is spilling the deets.

“It’s not a normal kiss,” the 21-year-old told Yahoo Australia at her film’s Sydney premiere on Wednesday night. “This kiss is very special not just because it’s two actors kissing.”

“These two characters have gone through so much and this kiss symbolizes a lot more than just kissing someone,” she added. “In the context of the movie, it’s brave and honestly dangerous. There’s something special about it in that way.”

As if kissing Zac Efron wasn’t already special enough, it takes on a whole new meaning in the circumstances of the film. “A big part of my character’s storyline, the reason that she is an oddity, is that she and her brother are black. That is what makes them different,” Zendaya told InStyle in our January cover story.

“It all gets halted when she starts falling for someone who’s white,” she said. “I’m biracial, so there are so many [shared] experiences there. I think it’s a cool side storyline. It’s something that you get invested in.”
